Do you own a business or have plans to start one?

Remember the time you first came up with an idea and thought about turning it into a business? —that exhilarating feeling of starting a new venture. You start coming up with strategies to turn your concept into a business.

Then you enter this daydream phaseimagining all the possibilities (big or small) of what you could accomplish and the value you’ll contribute to the world. The end goal may be a bit foggy but you’re willing to see where this journey takes you and welcome the trial & errors.

With tons of excitement, you start planning and making some moves! You're on a high and feel as though you can accomplish anything. You feel motivated AF!

Suddenly…. the thrill starts dying down because you've hit a roadblock or burnout. You snap back into reality and start questioning your capabilities.

Now you enter a state of limiting beliefs and the imposter syndrome kicks in.

“what if I fail and my friends/ family notices”

“I have no experience and not sure if I am skilled enough”

“where do I even start, I don't have resources”

"what if I look dumb and others start judging me"

All of these thoughts are normal and most people experience them.

Here are a few ways you can battle the ongoing doubts.

Always work on your craft and showcase your work

  • Spend a lot of time working on your business so you can master your craft. Share your work and process so that people can see you leveling up and be reminded of your business.

Connect with people in your industry and build relationships

  • Surround yourself with a like-minded community so that you have people to go to for advice, input, encouragement and so that you don't feel alone.

Have an intentional plan for each area of your business

  • Whether this is your finances, marketing strategy, skill mastery, etc., set goals so you have something to work towards. Plan out your weekly and monthly goals/ tasks and always evaluate them so you can make practical adjustments.

Be consistent and show up even when you don’t feel like it

  • Our moods are always changing and if we let our emotions control how a business runs… then that’s exactly how your business will be. Don't let your rollercoaster of emotions dictate the success of your business.

Learn from those who’ve had more success than you

  • Many people have gone through trial and error to figure out strategies that work. They can help you skip the trial and error part so you can speed up the process of reaching your goals.

Focus on the value you will be providing through your business

  • Remembering the value you will be bringing to others is a huge encouragement that you’re doing something good. At the end of the day, we just want to feel like we’ve contributed to society and that alone pushes us to show up better for others

Remember that things don’t happen overnight —show up and be consistent even when you don’t feel like it.

Your mind has to be stronger than your feelings.

Gaining confidence is NOT easy and you will constantly be working at it but it gets easier. Also, it's pretty addicting and soon, you'll start thriving and keep wanting to achieve greater things for that euphoric feeling.

Be patient and the results will come as long as you keep making bold moves.

Having confidence is necessary and good for your mental health.
